OK, a few people have contacted me over DMs, and I said in my replies I'd post what I'd written as continuation. There's one more 'scenes' chapter, which should hopefully bring a clearer picture of what's been going on since Will Prescott lost the book and it somehow ended up in the hands of the Heathers. By now, you can probably see the Heathers are not how they presented to Will at all, but it should explain some of the reactions that he experienced being Heather Kaminski. Everything the Heathers told Will was kind of true, but only from a certain point of view. The protagonist voice has also changed to someone who is, frankly, far more duplicitous and evil than Will. This was by prior agreement with Seuzz. I have no idea how to even continue Will's story now he has been golemized; maybe one day, when the route forward on this branch is charted and we know what happens with the Heathers, we'll get that closure. Perhaps it's a Stellae intervention. Perhaps it's just the first in a long string of bodies left in their wake. I should point out, though, that the description of how the book ends up in St X in the first place is deliberately vague. Seuzz left multiple possible moments the book could have been lost by Will earlier in the branch; only one of these was 'put in a charity clear-out by his mom and delivered to St X on a booze run for Mary Occam'. The start is, I hope, still a little muddled about whether or not the book was part of the charity run or not; certainly Will's box of crap is there, but this is set a few weeks after the loss, when students finally get around to sorting it out. It's possible the book took an entirely different route, and merely ended up adjacent to Will's things. (Which, as I understand it, is part of its metaphysics.) Thanks to everyone who gave a little pep talk. I don't think I'm going to be a huge contributor going forward, but I wanted to get the existing chapters out. |
