For the most part I think it can be true to an extent. Those are some things that could turn the reader off. But on the other hand it could be the only way the book/movie could work out. The suggestions given are good to keep in mind. Slow pace is bad for the book if the whole book is slow paced. Keeping things fast enough but not too fast is a good idea.
