Since I started the challenge a couple of days late, I've been trying to catch up ever since. I wanted to get a protagonist background story turned in for the contest round, which I did, and now all I have left for this week is the outline. However .....
.... I find that as I have progressed through the exercises this week, and especially after writing my little story, my big story keeps changing. It actually has changed quite a bit from what I envisioned when I started, so I'm staring at the outline, wondering where to take it now.
Is this normal, this changing? I know in the short stories I write when playing The Sims computer game, the story often changes because unexpected things happen in the game that I decide to incorporate into the story. But now the amorphous characters in my head seem to be shifting and moving all on their own. They want to do what they want to do, it seems, but they haven't told me everything yet.
