YES, OMG, yes. A few friends and I started a "Scope Creepers Anonymous" group because of exactly this phenomenon. (right, Storm Machine??) This is why we try to include organizational strategies in the assignments, so you can keep track of characters/plot/setting and be able to update them easily when your characters get antsy and start rewriting your story.
