October Novel Prep Challenge

So, I sat down to write a plot background story, and ended up writing a stream-of-consciousness piece set after the main events of the story.

My brain can be quite contrary sometimes.

I haven't entered it into the contest, because it doesn't match the contest prompt anymore; but it did help me to define the theme and scope of the larger story, so I'm happy with it. Hooray for contrary brains?

Has anyone else been surprised by their own response to any of the prompts this month?
