Though I never got round to writing it (merely an outline), the arc that would have sprung from "Eclipse"  was pretty much based around the idea that the book was Von Gerssdorff's soul jar. As you say, that's pretty deep in and not something that occurs much in other branches

I recall getting into an arguement with Seuzz about it at the time: The problem wasn't so much the idea that Von Gerssdorff might be hiding away in the book (although, again, we discussed options where he wasn't), but why and what his motivation might be.
