I'd rather start a discussion.

Sometimes it feels like the kind of book you're writing depends on how you start it. Like The Wizard of Oz, if we had been directly plopped into Oz, we never would have understood how odd it was to be there. Dorothy's "real" life gave us perspective on why she was so amazed.
