October Novel Prep Challenge

I woke up this morning inside a plot hole the size of The Grand Canyon. I am not too sure how to fix it, but one thing is for sure---I need to do a whole lot of adding about different characters and situations before I even get to the "mysterious note."

One of my biggest concerns is, "Won't that throw me behind everyone else?" I mean, the MB would be very nice and I would love to have one, but getting my story right means more to me, and I don't want to quit.

I Need a soln, a blessing, or answers.
