Doesn't mean there won't be, but I think we were getting saturated with Will + Sydney stories back then. (Even if this thread made Seuzz doubt, he's committed to do the Hollywood branch, which is good because it takes Will out of Saratoga Falls and into a new playground.) Meanwhile, "Scenes from a Chinese Restaurant" touched a type of storyline seldom done, which is Will becoming a victim of the book and having someone else's POV. I think most of us really got attached to that idea and ran with it. I feel there's other branches where the characters can play with the books doing multiple changes, but during the last run, there were two or three Will + Sydney stories branching off the same source, and there's still a lot more to go. (IIRC, Seuzz handled only two of the three branches that had Will's relationship "broken" by David Kirkham and they had to decide what to do afterward.) Y'know, I feel like there's one kind of story that hasn't been explored - Will using the masks to become a matchmaker, using the Clover Mystery technique (that is, him becoming both sides and trying to lure them closer after finding they match). I feel it's not done because Will might choose to become one of them to be with the other, but it'd be fun to have a wrench thrown into that idea that steers him into doing matchmaking. (Maybe because he finds someone that likes him as he is, happens to be just as enthusiastic about the masks as him, and Will realizes he feels pity for the guy he wanted to take over and chooses to do a nice thing.) But then again, that's probably because I like feelgood stories, and that's as wholesome as it can be while still being a complete mess. |
