To be honest I still have no idea who Clover Mystery is. Anyway, I've said before that I'm ambivalent towards anything Hollywood due to how disconnected it is from everything else. Will being victimized can be enjoyable as a means of switching things up. But Will working with others is always going to be what I lean towards because different characters are going to bring their own twists to the basic set up even if they fall into the same sort of archetype. Steve Patterson and Laurent Delacroix are both jocks but how they approach using the book or working with Will is totally different from one another which leads to wildly different stories. Sydney is always a hard one for me. I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of her but I can find stories with her and Will nice. But I also find it hard to write which is why any attempt I've made of it dies out really quickly. Chelsea is also used a lot but the difference is that—and I can only speak for myself and my own view of things—Chelsea and Will, as characters, balance one another so well. Sydney really doesn't, I feel, unless her boldness is being played against Will's natural skittishness. That's why I think those bolder characters, like Chelsea or Alex Day's group or Patterson or whoever, pair up well with Will. That doesn't mean that Will should always be paired with those types of characters but it's one of those set ups that just inherently works. |
