This one wound up being a hard one to write, probably because the through-line (six people are going to get replaced) was so obvious that there wasn't much to do except march through it. There's a little bit of drama that gets huffed-and-puffed up, predominantly the "scandal" surrounding Kelsey. But my target was to get the six replacements made, and so within that story I didn't let myself get distracted to any pleasurable degree. If there is going to be any surprise variation here, it is going to have to be in an alternate storyline than the one that got written.

Well, the author philosophizes, sometimes that's the thing that has to be done: the hard, bony skeleton has to be laid down (dry and desiccated though it be) so fun stuff can be hung off it elsewhere.
