Here is SoCal, one of the big topics on everyone's mind is Earthquake Preparedness. Mind you, we've had some shakers, usually between 3-4 magnitudes, nothing bigly seriously like the 1994 Northridge Quake, but every month in roll call at work, we have to discuss emergency preparedness and one of the big things about that is having an emergency kit.
I got a kit though a local company, https://www.sosproducts.com/aboutus.asp, but it's nothing fancy. There's emergency water for drinking a nutrition brick for eating, a flashlight, and a radio. I've got my ten essentials from the boy scouts and lots of camping gear left over from our camping day. I even stocked up on my kid's meds. One thing I'd like to get is a generator, but the hubby sez we don't need one, which is ironic since So Cal Edison loves to shut off our electricity from time to time due to high winds.
