In theory I agree with rugal, that it's supposed to be a device for switching POVs without violating the fundamental POV of the story. In practice, I am very sympathetic with Nostrum's frustrations because it becomes tricky trying to preserve some sense of Will's presence -- it supposed to be his story, after all -- while respecting that it's a new POV. It doesn't help that the switch typically takes place in the midst of some crisis situation (as in the present storyline) so that it has the effect of derailing a story.
