National Parks in the UK don't have quite the same status as in the US, but we do have a dozen or so. The New Forest is an experience - there are strict speed limits and the animals there (horses, ponies, boars etc) have right of way and clearly know it. I've had many a stand-off with a contrary critter who is just damn well NOT going to get out of the middle of the road until it is good and ready.
