Re: Re: Discussion Question 1

Thinking about creating your characters, do you find it easy or hard?
It depends. Sometimes I get a story idea and the characters are completely formed, other times I bang my head on my keyboard trying to figure out who is doing what, why and when.

Do you use people you know in your characters development?
Always! I pull from life constantly, whether it is catch phrases, style, or preferences. I try not to make it so direct, but a bit from one person here and some of another person there.

Do you use character charts? Why or why not?
No. I like to write a lot of side stories about my characters and build their personalities that way. It take about the same amount of time but I enjoy it more.

Is it easier to create a couple, or individuals?
It depends on the story. Mostly I've written short stories (I have a lot of ideas for longer works, but haven't managed to get them written at this time) and in the context of a short work it's fairly easy to create the characters needed for the story.
