I remember the branch where Will went out using the combo mask of him and Umeko with no mind band. That did add a different tension than the theft model does especially since he got comfortable as a "new" person without Will's baggage. This would seem to be another way for Will to find himself rather than impresonating (becoming) an existing person.

I've had an idea that maybe Will could also develop a new character beyond himself with a "merged" mask that has a mind band, perhaps a third person. This would work because he needs to merge his thoughts and experiences with the stolen mind or possibly get caught stating experiences/memories identical to someone else.

Since almost everything currently is ID theft/borrowing, these would be alternatives that could be further explored.
