While Chelsea has defined herself, there are more than enough hints that she's lied to herself, and has shaped herself more around the expectations of others. The masks, for her, are a chance to escape and redefine herself.


That is a really interesting thought.

I guess two follow up questions (for everyone):

Are there any other defined characters who might be lying to themselves about who they are? The only one I can think of is Gordon.

[And OMG I just got an idea for a storyline to explore ... Now if I can find a place to hook it in ... ]

Second, are there characters with defined characters who you could imagine still using the masks to explore (not exploit, as Patterson does) other identities while still being comfortably themselves? For instance, I could imagine Carson and James (who are very comfortable as themselves) exploring other character types just for the experience of it.
