Greets, Generally speaking, it’s safe to say there are lots of bots of all kinds—the 2025 stat shows that more than 55% of internet traffic comes from bots. Depending on your level of concern for your personal works, it’s worth remembering that you can restrict access to your items to “Registered Users and Above,” which requires a Writing.Com account to view. My personal opinion is that the amount of content here on Writing.Com is less than a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the vastness of the internet. While I understand all our content is important to us, how much actual weight Writing.Com material carries against, say, all the public source books, Reddit posts, news outlets, and other online writing out there… Well, I personally wouldn’t call what might be scraped here to have much “AI significance.” It’s more like drops of info in an Olympic-sized pool of words. I'm not dismissing the concern, I'm just saying there's lots of things to be worried about when it comes to AI and the future and all that... I'm not sure "this" is one of those things at the tip top of the list. All the same, at least for now, AI bots haven’t started creating their own accounts to scrape content—which makes the “Registered Users and Above” access restriction a decent option for those wanting a little more protection than the open nature of the “No Restrictions” setting. https://www.imperva.com/blog/2025-imperva-bad-bot-report-how-ai-is-supercharging...
