A - Rappel from a helicopter?
B - Become an airborne ranger?
C - Drive a Tank?
My Rappeling Experience
When I was on the path to earn my spurs with the 11th ACR back in the early 1990's, one of the last things we had to do was rappel off one of the local bridges. ( I was assigned to the headquarters platoon 11th ACR in Bad Hersfeld, Germany). It had been an intense day and I really wanted those spurs. At first the though scared me. We did some min. rappel training, mostly off a training tower, so you had something to bounce off from, so I was nervous rappeling from a bridge because you didn't have that bounce - but it went good and quick and I earned those spurs.
And honestly, it's a rarity to those spurs. I was happy to be invited to earn them and I was one of the few MP's who did earn them. Would I rappel from a helicopter? Not now. Back then? Who knows....
B - No - too intense for me
C - I did drive a M113 once. For an MP, it was complicated, but I did it.
