When transferring things from other documents, specifically Google Docs that I've had experience with, the format can get a little wonky. Are you using any kind of WdC WritingML? You can try changing the font and size, etc, to WdC ML codes so they are consistent.

Also, if you add the "pre" WritingML it may help keep your formatting when copy/pasting an item.

For example:

{pre}
Your text goes here
{/pre}

I haven't used it much, but {pre} should help keep the original formatting.
