Tired and didn't check my list... might be book two. Julia London's "While it was Snowing" is a cute modern romantic comedy type novel, but unique in that the heroine is over fifty and the hero is about to turn fifty. She sure makes it sound like fifty is a lot of woe for a good portion of the book, but there is a lot of humor and her family is super interesting and I loved how the heroine found herself as an artist and found her way through her kind of mid-life crisis. This book involved an old, nearly blind wiener dog, the heroine's wild family (brother couch surfing with her for 4 months!, two teenage sons, an ex husband who wants to get back together even though she has no interest in that, her parents having a marital crises and her mom being part of the Bossy Posse, and they all invade her 2 week artist retreat that was accidentally double booked (and how she met the hero). Some boring parts. It could definitely have been shorter. But overall, I enjoyed it. I borrowed it from my local library. Julia London is mostly known for humorous historical romance so this is a departure for her. |
