Daaaaank! Thank you, Zib! That was really lovely! Geez, I'm glad you noticed that most films take place either in L.A. or Manhattan, too! Heavens. (I love Francesca Lia Block's books, but the characters never go anywhere but New York City or Hollywood!) Mum reads books by Laveryle Spencer, which usually take place in Texas, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, places in the midwest. That's such a good point: you can go anywhere without it being too far by living in the midwest. It's weird that people think of it as flyover country. You know, they say that there are 9 times the amount of nutrients found in the crust of the bread than in the middle (I always eat my crusts now!), but I think that people shouldn't think that California, New York, and Florida are where the goods are at. Nathan told me that the ocean gives of negatively-charged ions, which stimulate people's brains and make them more intense or something, so maybe film makers are drawn to those little ions and think that there's more happening along the sea. Of course, just like you love the soft, cushy, homey, butterfly and lake blessed country (have you ever been to Wisconsin, by the way? I love Wisconsin!), I love my rugged, wind-blown, sea salt and poppy enriched land. I love curvy roads (I don't think you would like driving with me; I don't believe that curves have to be taken anywhere near slow! Gaak. Reckless teenager I am) and all that. I love fields, though. Prarie fields are something I've wanted to be surrounded by ever since I saw "Dances With Wolves" when I was 9. Yes, yes, that big open sky and blowing grass, ohh, heaven!!! hanging in the doorway like smoke like mistletoe this is where i'll be whenever you come or go |
