Yes, it's legal to have aboortions in the UK, but you have to have a good reason and 2 doctors have to both agree it's the best thing for the person concerned.

In the news at the moment, there's been a lot of stuff about abortion because there's a movement which might make it legal for underage girls to have abortions withgout telling their parents. Onc e you turn 16 here, patient confidentiality comes into place and your medical rights are yours alone and your parents can only be told with your permission, or if you're deemed clinically unable to make your own decisions. If you're under 16, medical and legal staff can disclose your details to your parents, which is sometimes not the best thing... It'll be interesting to see what happens with that law...
