Chapter #6

There is a sea of reporters and cameras

by: BIG BAD WOLF is Merry Author IconMail Icon
"Oh crud," Amadeus said, as he looked out the window on the door of the police station.

"What's the matter?" Keven asked.

"Oh, not much," Amadeus said. "Except for the fact that there is a ton of reporters and cameramen out there, all waiting for me to show my face. While I don't know what they are like here, where I am from, everytime something happens, they swarm like, now what did my friend say that those birds that ate carion were called, oh yah, vultures."

"Actually, they are worse than that," Kell said. "After all, Herdthinners employs several of them to clean up what the hunters miss during their hunts. In fact, I'm friends with a few of them."

"Well either way, I am not showing my face, at least not like this," Amadeus said, as he guestured towards the green stain on his uniform, and his furless face, and his hands, which had no claws to speak of. "Of course, I can just clean my outfit, put my helmat on, and put my hands in my pockets, and walk out, without attracting much attention, I hope."

"Why are you worried about your face and fur?" Rudy asked. "You could just beat them like you did those four men."

"Kid, being able to do something and doing it are two different things," Amadeus said, as he shook his head, looking at the boy. "For one thing, I could of easily killed those four men, but I didn't. I held back on purpose, because I do not want to just kill someone who stood no chance against me. Those reporters are the same, I can't just beat them up, because they are not a threat to me. However, I've got to limit my exposer on this world, and that means disguising my appearance to a degree, because there are certain rules that I have to follow in situations like this. 1. Limit interferance in a society's culture as much as possible. 2. Don't kill anyone, unless they are a threat to your life. 3. Try to make contact with Combine forces. 4. If contact with Combine is impossible, assimilate into the culture as best as you can. 5. Don't give out top secret information about the Combine to anyone, not even those you trust. 6. Avoid using technology that is beyond the culture's capability to produce, unless it is something that they could possibly make. 7. Stay near where you arrived, unless the area is too dangerous to remain near, for any reason."

"Whow, so many rules," Rudy said, as he looked at the human.

"Actually, those are the basic ones kid," Amadeus said. "In any case, I best clean myself off, put my helmat on, and hope for the best."

"This is Katty Blackfur reporting for Channle Two News," said a female black cat. "Various sources say that during the blackout some sort of portal opened in the heart of the city of Domain. Some of these sources claim that an alien came through the portal and tried to talk to them before the police arrived and fired at the creature. Eyewitnesses claim that the police chased the creature to an alleyway, where it is said that the creature gave itself up without a fight and was taken to the station. Needless to say, the police can only confirm that they arrested a suspicious looking man who had fled the area. Other than that, they are not saying a word."

Suddenly, the door opens, but just as the reporters start to rush forward, all that comes out is a wolf with his hands in his pockets, and a disheveled uniform. "Hey mister," Katty Blackfur said, as she brought the mike near the man. "Given that you just came out of the police station, perhaps you can answer a few questions."

"Well, what do you want to know?" the man asked, with a slight slur.

"Can you confirm if the police have an alien in their custady?" Katty asked.

"No, I can not confim that miss," the man said, as he walked past her, keeping his head low, and walking with a bit of a drunken stuper, and bumping into a few of the reporters and cameramen.

A while later, the Dewclaws come out, after telling Rudy to keep quiet about Amadeus. When the reporters asked Keven and Kell what they had seen, they said that they had seen nothing unusual, which meant nothing, especially since a rabbit marrying a wolf was unusual enough. However, one of the reporters asked Rudy if he'd seen anything unusual.

Question, does Rudy keep his mouth shut, or does he say something?

You have the following choices:

1. Rudy keeps quiet.

*Noteb*
2. Rudy spills the beans.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
