The Zora race had always prospered, as the tastiest fish in the realm were fished from their domain and exported all over Hyrule. Since the fish was always in high supply, the Zoras remained prosperous and happy but there was a trick to this.
The prosperity of the Zora race was linked through some strange means to the girth of it's ruler. The Zora royal family were always expected to increase their waistline once they became ruler. The larger the ruler, the more abundant and the tastier the fish would be.
Recently, the Zora King had retired from the throne, placing rulership of the Zora kingdom upon his only daughter, the Princess Ruto- she would now be expected to feast often and grow round and lazy, to carry on the success of the zoras.
Ruto was informed of this development by a Zora messenger, who said they had already prepared her initiation feast.
