This choice: You look for a hiding place here and wait for the morning • Go Back... Your current surrounding may be creeping you out, but what choice do you have? There is no one around to give you a lift, and getting home or to the university on foot at your present size? Forget it. Besides, you are still exhausted from the mountain climbing and dodging those giants. So you decide not to waste any more energy, but rather settle down for the night. Tomorrow morning, there should be enough people around that you may get help or at least a ride home.
Having determined that, you start exploring your surroundings. Currently, you are standing more or less in the middle of the doorstep. Defenitely not a good place. When guests eventually leave the party, you'd be stomped to death. Besides, it is too exposed as this is one cold night out here.
You start walking along the wall of the building as you come across a crack in it. Had you been at your normal size, you would never have noticed it, but now it seems to be a gaping maw. While you are still gazing at it, you notice some movement inside and a disgusting smell. Roaches! You should have known they'd be around such a place. You have seen very few roaches in your life, but you know that they are bigger than half an inch. And they would certainly have no trouble eating up such a small, soft midnight snack.
Looking for an alternative to this less than welcoming house, you notice a tree standing not far from here. It is surrounded by a small patch of earth, but somehow, the city has forgotten to plant grass. But since keeping the city clean isn't a top priority, many leaves and broken sticks surround it (together with the usual garbage like hankies, a can of Coke, and some scraps of paper).
As you were not prepared for a night of camping, you have little choice but to dare the patch of earth. It doesn't take you long to find some scraps of a used paper hanky that would make great sheets for you. The insects you encounter are even smaller than you are, and seem to be even more afraid of you than you are of them. Once you are sure that there is no imminent danger, you settle down for the night next to the tree's roots.
You wake up as the sun is already shining down on you. The common noise of the city is surrounding you and movement is everywhere. The night has been mediocre. It was safe, but the ground was hard and cold and you are feeling a bit stiff. As you start stretching your body you notice some movement around the tree. Some big monsters are jumping around picking at the ground. You are shocked when you realize that it's just some sparrows. Normally not even an annoyance, but now a deadly threat to you. They haven't noticed you yet, but what will you do? | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
