You decide that staying out in the open wouldn't be that good an idea in a place like this. Getting to the floor that you may roam about freely should be useful.
With this in mind, you walk up to the edge. The view down is terrible and you nearly wet your pants. But you have no choice. Gathering all courage you have, you climb over the edge and carefully search for footholds. Fortunately, the counter's walls are very dirty and well- used, so there are many footholds (although you don't want to know what some of those outcrops had been before hardening).
Although there are no technical problems, the climbing still takes a lot of time as the distance is enormous. Your arms are beginning to feel numb and you are breathing heavily, but you keep on pushing yourself, as you want to get out of this mess as soon as possible. The bartender keeps his distance from the counter, which means that he isn't a threat (he is probably just as disgusted as you are).
Finally, you reach the ground. Cigarette stumps and crumps of food or something are everywhere. You step away from the counter and you shoe is immidiately submerged in a puddle of stale beer. The sweet smell of decay mixes with the alcoholic smell. You are feeling too weak to resist, so you start vomitting right where you are standing. The acidic smell of your vomit mixes nicely into the mixture.
You are lucky that the bartender is somewhere off to the right, so that you can catch your breath before continuing your trek towards freedom. Just as you think you can relax, you notice movement to the left. 'It' has feelers, 'it' is brown and car- sized. You shudder as you see the cockroach come closer. It looks bigger, stronger, and hungrier than you. And you don't like the way its insect eyes are looking at you. You have nothing to fight it with, so where do you run? To the right, towards the bartender, or forward, towards the back of the bar, where bottles, bags and different stuff is stored?
