The lamp post began to flicker, as if it desperately attempted to stay lit. After a few seconds, a perfect darkness fell everywhere around Elith. She quickly stood up and looked around if she could see a source of light in the streets of Magnous. Suddenly, she became aware of a soft rhythmic noise, which she quickly identified as sneaking footsteps. She quickly looked around, now in panic. The footsteps gradually became louder. Elith just decided she would run in the opposite direction of the noise as fast as she could when her eyes finally caught sight of a small light in the distance.
Suddenly, the footsteps stopped. Elith clearly heard heavy breathing behind her. For a split second she stood frozen in terror, and then she shrieked and ran in the direction of the light as fast as she could. There was no sound of pursuit. Slowing her pace as she reached the light, she found it was a lantern. It light up a sign that said "Magnous Tavern: Open 24 Hours a Day, Seven Days a Week!" Elith looked back to see the silhouette of a very tall man looking at her about ten yards away.
