"There's our home," Gwen said as they approached the castle. The dragon child started crying tears of happiness.
They approached the main doors and the two guards there were shocked at the Princess riding on a dragon.
"Sir Vincent, what's the meaning of this? Why is the Princess riding a dragon?!" one guard asked.
"He saved the Princess' life and befriended her. She invited him to stay here," Vincent replied. The two guards exchanged glances and one ran to tell the Lord what was going on.
"I'm sorry, but we can't let it in," the remaining one said. Vincent shook his head and Gwen pouted.

The messenger guard ran fast to the Lord's banquet hall, where he waited for his daughter to return.
"My Liege," the guard said upon entering and looking on Gwen's father, Lord Byron. He was a tall man, over six feet in height and very strong both in body and mind. Before he settled down and married, he was known for being a monster slayer. ten years of retirement hadn't shown anywhere on his body. "The Princess and Sir Vincent return."
"Excellent, show them in," Byron said.
"But sir, the princess, she's riding a dragon!" the guard said.
"What? How can that be?" Byron asked.
"I know not," the guard said, "They're waiting outside the gates as we speak."
"Thank you," Lord Byron said, picking up his sword and going to the main gates.

"Dragon," Vincent whispered, looking away from the dragon, "Watch your tongue, my lord was a monster slayer before he found milady's mother. He may act . . . rashly in this situation." The dragon child looked at Vincent and nodded.
As if on cue, Lord Byron appeared and looked angry at seeing a dragon this close to his home and daughter and not dead.
"Hi papa," Gwen said. Vincent bowed. The dragon lowered his head to copy Vincent.
"Gwen, come here," Byron instructed.
"Why?" Gwen asked.
"Because you're riding a dragon," Byron replied.
"But father, he saved my life," Gwen said, "I owe him a favor for that, right?"
"He just saved you to hurt you later," Byron said.
"I didn't save her for that reason," the dragon child said, "I did it because she was in danger." Byron looked at the dragon.
"How can you speak, dragon?" Byron asked
"My father was human," the dragon said, staring his blue eyes at the Lord.
"So papa, may he stay?" Gwen asked.
"No," Byron replied, "I'll spare his life this time. . ."
"PAPA!" Gwen yelled, "If you make him leave, I'll leave with him!"
"You can't be serious," Byron said.
"I'm afraid she is," Vincent replied.
"Fine, he may stay, in the stables," Byron said.
"But Papa, that will scare the horses!" Gwen said, "He can stay in my room."
"No!" Byron yelled. He needed away to diffuse this situation. It came to him. "He will rest with Vincent in his quarters until we can make others. Vincent's eyes went wide.
"Thank you," the dragon child said.
Where do they go now?
