Tidal Wave!

    by: Dragonlord Author IconMail Icon
"Steady girl bring the boat out of the harbor slowly," Tideus called down to Sedna as she secretly pulled his boat out of the town's harbor as she always did, "We don't wnat to have to spend a week repairing it because you bumped a rock again do we?"

"Bumped one rock..." Sedna muttered as she pulled the boat out of the harbor.

Sedna pulled the boat out into the deeper part of the lake and Tideus gave a high pitched whistle signaling that she could come up now. Sedna slid her head through a hole in the bottom of the boat and pushed open a trap door that let out on the ships deck. Sedna had often wondered how Tideus had made a boat with a hole in it but he only smiled and said nothing.

"How'd things go in town today dad?" Sedna asked as her head emerged above the deck.

"The cheap bastards tried to short change us saying that 'them fish ain't as fresh as usual'" Tideus said smiling.

Sedna laughed at Tideus and said, "You were the one who said to wait one more day before coming to town."

"And miss spending the day with my girl?" Tideus laughed, "On her special day? Not likely!"

All mirth suddenly vanished from Tideus's face as he suddenly turned to look out into the lake and said, "Sedna dive now!"

"Father wha-?" Sedna started.

"I said dive NOW!!!" Tideus roared anger burning in his eyes as he turned to face Sedna.

Sedna wondered what was wrong with Tideus but obeyed him anyways, this new Tideus scared her. As Sedna's head left the boat she thought she saw sadness in Tideus's eyes as he closed the trapdoor.

Sedna dove down into the lake wondering why she had been ordered to do this when she felt the water become turbulent and began to throw her around like a leaf in the wind. This only lasted a few minutes but it still had Sedna scared, what could have disturbed the lake so much.

Sedna quickly rose back to the surface of the lake and saw in horror that Tideus's boat was not there. She quickly surfaced and lifted her head as far out of the water as she could. Looking around Sedna spotted something, a large gathering of flotsam that hadn't been there before. Sedna feared the worst and quickly swam towards the flotsam.

When Sedna arrived she saw that the wood was of the shape of boat planks and that it was the same material as Tideus's boat. Shifting through the boards she came to one that had the name of the ship on it, The Serpent. Sedna despaired, this was indeed Tideus's boat and there was no sign of him. Tideus was a strong swimmer but he couldn't swim the ten miles it was to land, much less against the turbulent waters she had felt.

Sedna dived under the water and began to circle swimming in ever increasing size searching the top and bottom of the lake for any signs of Tideus hoping that maybe he was still alive. After having circled dozens of times, Sedna spotted something on the surface of the water. Quickly swimming up to it she saw that it was the clothes Tideus had been wearing. The clothes had been shredded by the current and little remained of them, but Sedna still had hope Tideus was alive, he frequently removed his clothes when swimming.

Sedna continued her search for hours and found nothing more of Tideus. She could only assume that the currents or wave that had destroyed his boat had killed him as well. Sedna roared out in the pain of losing her foster father and fell into quieter sobbing as she swam.

You have the following choices:
