The creature was a monstrosity no matter how gentle it seemed to be. Bowhan unwrapped it from his waist and held his sword over his head. He looked into the eyes of the basilisk. He saw tears form in the creature's eyes. Then Bowhan heard something that he had never heard a basilisk do. "Daddy?" the creature pleaded.
Bowhan had never heard of a basilisk being able to speak. He couldn't believe his ears, but there was no mistaking it. The creature had spoken. He just couldn't bring the sword down on the basilisk. He put his sword in the sheath and picked the snake up. the snake coiled up and cuddled against Bowhan's chest again. It kept repeating the word "daddy" over and over again.
Bowhan left the tavern with the creature under the cloth. He ran into the forest and found a cave in a deep secluded part of the forest. He walked into the cave and then placed the basilisk on the ground in the cave. The basilisk stared up at its father with it head tilted in confusion. "Daddy?" it asked.
Bowhan didn't reply, he just started to walk away. The basilisk slithered to its father an tried to wrap around his legs, but Bowhan kicked it away. The basilisk backed away and stared at its father with tears running down its face. "Daddy!" it cried out.
"I'm sorry," Bowhan apologized, "but I can't take care of you. You're a monster, and you are too dangerous to be around." With that, he left the cave and the basilisk cried all through the night.
