Zoey begins to draw a mysterious object from he...

Zoey begins to draw a mysterious object from her bag. I hold my breath as my heart thumps hard.

“Is that what I think it is?” I ask with wonder.

A smile forms on Zoey’s lips as she holds the small, colorful globe in her hand. “Yes, it’s a Kradoc.”

I step closer. I gape at it as I couldn’t believe what I saw with my own eyes. These babies were a myth, or so I thought. My breath came in quick with soft audible gasps, while I reach out and touch it.

I inhale deeply, feeling the electrical currents run through my fingers and up my arm. I close my eyes when the fierce jolt of power reaches my brain.

Tears stream down my face as I see them. Each of my characters is more real to me than ever before, their lives displaying before my very eyes. They acknowledge my presence, whispering great adventures that await my readers.

I take deep breathes as I pull away. My lower lip trembles as I swallow the lump in my throat.

“What do you plan to do with that, Zoey?”

She smirks. “I brought it for you. Did you think I’ve forgotten my promise to help break your writer’s block?”

I shake my head.

“I didn’t expect this. Zoey, I can’t accept it. Are you aware of the dangers of it falling in the wrong hands?”

Zoey arches an eyebrow. She shoves the globe into a soft pouch and tosses it to me.

“I trust you with it. Besides, now the Kradoc is your problem to deal with. I want nothing to do with it.”

At the sound of loud pounding on my door, Zoey stops in mid stride toward the exit.

I lick my lips as the doorknob rattles and the door sways open.
