"Private Lee reporting for duty, sir!" She saluted as the General entered the room. "At ease Private Lee" he said returning the salute. The other men assembled in the room along with several scientists in white lab coats. "I suppose you have been briefed on the situation, Private?" The General asked her as the scientists began preparations for administering the formula. "Yes sir, I have. But I find it hard to believe that it can do what the lab claims it can, the sheer scientific implausibility of it..." she replied unsure of herself.
"Well as I'm sure you are aware that is why we are going to have you take the formula, we have evaluated your psychological profile and it has suggested that should you indeed gain whatever power this bestows that you are unlikely to go insane with it. We are counting on you, we caught a foreign spy this morning and interrogation from her reveals that her superiors were also interested in developing a similar formula. So the time to act is now. Is it ready?" The General now turned to the scientists that were carefully setting up a table with various pieces of monitoring equipment. "Yes Sir, it is. Please lie down on the table then"
Private Lee brought herself over to the table and she then laid down as the scientists strapped her in place. "A precaution ma'am, in case you thrash about" the lead scientist said as she frowned. Another few scientists now carefully lowered a small hose to her mouth. "Commencing Operation Apotheosis" the General said so that everyone could now watch in anticipation as the formula began to pour into her waiting mouth. When she finished consuming the formula and the pumping machine stopped everyone looked at her, frowning in disappoint. Did something go wrong?
Suddenly she began to glow, and she opened her eyes and gasped for breath and then
