She looks at you with surprised expression on her face, which turns into doubt and asks "Yeah, goddess of what - watery drinks? What was this anyway?"
"It's complicated, there's a project in my lab, we've been trying to unlock the hidden possibilities of human genome with... Well, it's all quantum microbiology and I don't even know the half of it, but it turns out it's more powerful than anyone could imagine. I think..." you try to explain.
"Wait, so you're telling me you just gave me some untested chemical mix from your work?" she exclaims turning a bit angry. "No, I, um.. it's not like...", you mumble, but she pokes you mid-sentence and says playfully "I'm just messing with you. But seriously, what was in it? It tasted like lemon soda."
"That's the flavouring, the primary ingredient has a very weak taste, the mixture feels just like water. The catalyst I've been working on has a slightly bitter relish so I added some lemon juice and sugar from cafeteria to even the taste. And I am serious, it really should unlock infinite power in whoever drinks it.", you continue the clarification, "Sorry I dropped in like this, I should have explained what it was before - but I am really confident that the mixture is safe."
"Wait, you can't be serious... what kind of power?", she asks, still uncertain if you aren't kidding.
"Well, without the catalyst it empowered people ingesting it with various powers, like increased strength, clairvoyance or telekinesis. But it only manifested temporarily - for like a minute or so after hitting the maximum strength, which took hours in the first place - and the effects were very volatile. Everyone was perfectly fine afterwards though - even I have taken it as well on several occasions. The catalyst does more than just speed up the sequence, it should make it last for much longer - days, weeks.. maybe even indefinitely...", you patiently continue with grievous face.
"No, no, this is some joke, and it's not funny any more..." - she comments.
"Look, I know it sounds strange, but believe me - I know what it can do in the wrong hands. I've taken it many times and I saw the death and destruction which it may cause.. The visions have also shown me how to bring it to full potential by synthesising the catalyst. Please, you have to believe me..."
"Then how come I don't feel anything? Huh?", she confronts you. Right.. usually the process to become accustomed with the powers takes weeks, months even. You need to think outside of the box on this one. "It's cannot be 'felt', it just works.", you start, "Here, try bending this spoon" - you straighten forward your empty hand and just as she looks down, an ordinary spoon appears in it. "There, have you seen this? I had nothing in my hand and you materialised this", you wave the spoon in front of her, "just by believing I had something". You are confident that she must believe you now, but unfortunately she has not seen your empty hand, so this looks just as if you pulled it from somewhere.
"John, you are scaring me, stop this!", as she shouts the tool flies from your hand and by your ear into the wall, piercing it through, so only a small vertical hole is left. You both look at the puncture, she obviously shocked and surprised - but you a bit too. Some dust floats in the room from the damage, long fissures surround the newly created gap in the wall and small pieces of concrete fall off as the wall rearranges to accommodate the changes in pressure. When the dust settles, night sky is visible through the resulting crevice. "What... what kind of trick is this?", she asks after a long moment of silence.
"This is no trick, I've been telling you the truth. Look, you just pushed the spoon though almost a foot of reinforced concrete...", you begin to point out the obvious fact, but she stops you screaming "No, this is impossible" and runs to another room shutting the door. You quickly follow, wanting to reassure her, but suddenly notice that all dust disappears - and looking back you can no longer see damaged wall with concrete laying on the floor. The room looks just like it was when you entered. "Shit, she must have reverted all that by not believing that it happened... this is going to be harder than I hoped.", you think.
You consider available options and figure out that whatever you manage to show or suggest, she may be able to ignore or revert like the previous stunt. In the end it all boils down to her trusting you that this is really happening. But maybe it would be better to give her a couple minutes to think through what happened, you settle. You could also use some time to think through what happened... "damn, that was so close", you think. But then it occurs to you that it may have been to convincing her the power is real, you also was very narrowly missed an ounce of steel from flying straight through your head. "Good God, that was a close one", you think, "or should I say.. good Goddess now?". You shudder at the thoughts - would she fix you as well if that happened? What if she somehow disappears you just like the damage from the little outburst, who knows what she may be thinking about right now?
Collecting yourself, you figure the best course of action is to try to appeal again to her reason, so you carefully approach the door to the room she went and cautiously knock. No answer. One more series of knocks is followed by silence as well. "Jane, are you alright?" you finally ask and...
