Phoebe looked at herself in the mirror and gently ran a hand over her baby pot-belly. Her phone rang.
"Okay, Phoebs?" Cole sounded a little worried. "You can, er, relax now."
"What did your sources say?" Phoebe asked.
"I...mighta kinda accidentally fattened you up a little bit."
"What?!" Phoebe was bemused more than angry. What did he mean "accidentally"? How could you "accidentally" make someone get fat super-quick?
"See, I know you always wished you could help your sisters out more. You know, because you got the really passive power. So I thought, maybe if you had a little more magical energy then you could, you know, develop a new power or something."
"Uh-huh. And how does me blowing up like a balloon help out my sisters? Unless I'm gaining all their calories for them, in which case, I still don't see how that helps us fight demons..."
"Well, see, you know how your ability to channel magical energy is basically tied up in your life-force? Well, it turns out that you already channeled as much as you could. But if there was more of you, then there's more life-force, see? And more life-force means more channeling and more magical power. But the easiest way to get more of you in a healthy way is, well you know, fattening you up. So you started getting bigger and eating more without anyone noticing..."
"Wait, how is being a fatso healthy? Ever hear of a thing called a heart attack?"
"Um, you do know witches have a natural immunity to all sorts of mortal ailments, right? Including all consequences of weight gain?"
