Arthras turned from the shut door where the dejected chamberlain had stood and said to Marlin, "Whatever Kingly business that awaits me shall have to wait for another day." King Arthras took one of the disguise potions and was about to put it to his lips when he heard a loud and obnoxious horn near the entrance way of the castle. A sudden look of annoyance took over King Arthras' face as the meek voice of the chamberlain come from the other side of the door. "Prince Kelos of Grovan has arrived to speak with you my liege."
Marlin looked to Arthras and said, "My King, there is still time for you to take the disguise potion and leave without having to meet with Kelos, I'm sure he's just here to see the Princess anyways.
"And that my friend is why I can't leave yet. I am will to leave the nation to run itself for a time without me, however my duties as a father are something I can not shirk. I will meet with Kelos and make my plans from there." Turning to the door Arthras told the chamberlain, "Have a quaint feast ready in a half hour and tell Prince Kelos to meet me there. We shall discuss his business then."
Marlin gave a humble bow as Arthras and said, "You are truly a loving father and king and hope you enjoy your well earned rest." Arthras nodded and made his way to the dinning hall where Kelos was waiting for him.
The two greeted each other with false smiles and sat to enjoy the lavish meal laid before them. After the main entree was finished Arthras finally decided to stop beating around the bush. "I believe we both know why you are here."
"You have a wisdom befitting your great age King Arthras." Kelos said, "I am here to bring Fia back to Grovan with me and claim her as my bride. This will unify our two great kingdoms under the Grovan flag and we shall sire the next generation of great leaders."
"And what if I or my daughter don't approve of the match?"
Kelos laughed, "Well, it would be foolish to deny such a perfect match between us, I had decided upon this years ago. But if for some foolish reason you didn't approve...have you ever seen the Grovan army march? It's really a magnificent sight to behold first hand."
Arthras couldn't believe the nerve of the headstong prince. He wanted to teach the spoiled brat a lesson in humility, and a moment later Arthras realized he might have the tool to get Kelos out of his hair maybe for good. Arthras did have the disguise potion and could slip it to Kelos who would be in for quite a shock. No matter what form Kelos took under the potion Arthras was sure he could hand it.
That wasn't the only option Arthras had, after the meal he could take the potion himself and he could put himself in a position to get close to Kelos and find a weakness or find further details of what his plans are.
Arthras sighed to himself, he felt too old and tired to do all of this plotting. He could just leave the decision up to Fia as for who she wanted to marry. It was her right after all. And he could just take the potion now and leave the castle and maybe never come back. Live a life away from the stresses of being King.
