Chapter #6

Blake goes to school...

    by: Blake Author IconMail Icon
Blaze also had to teach him minimal stuff which would be basic for normal teenagers, such as learning what was a woman like (not much, i fact, Blake only learned that they're refrred as she or her, and that their physic looks different from males. Blaze himself wasn't too fond of the topic). Blaze even had to explain how are humans born, because they'd be studying that topic at some point in school...

Needless to say, Blake really disliked pretty much of all the stuff related to humans, and, as taught by Blaze, "their instincts were plainly pathethic". Blaze remarked several times to not talk to anyone unless it's necessary, and during the lunch break, avoid any human company. To the point Blake memorized what Blaze said about most of possible situations.

Months later...

Blaze had already gotten Blake registered at the nearest high school, and early in the morning, he woke Blake up by throwing an angry rat at him. The now nearly 12 years old boy killed it with ease, and saw the bowl with water and three bread pieces before him, Blaze said

-"You'll need a bit more of energy, just in case..."- Blake ate them rather quickly (given his life style, he was always hungry, but never complained)

-"Now, remember that if someone asks about who you live with, you have to answer 'My big brother'. Also, never, NEVER tell anyone where you live"-

-"Understood, master... but..."-

-"But?"- Blaze was about to shout and possibly punch the teenager he had been "raising"

-"...Is this school stuff necessary?"-

Blaze sighed in relief, at least he wasn't questioning him, as he kew clearly that not even Blaze was happy about the school thing

-"Sadly yes. I'd hate to spend the whole day around humans... it's a punishment that none of us truly deserves, but, I can't confront the human police until you're strong enough. You can get killed by a mere bullet... humans and their damn fire power... if this were like 500 years ago you'd be already killing entire villages..."- Blaze was starting to go off the point, but he realized and said

-"If you don't want to bear this for too long, then train better and harder, so you will grow stronger faster... As a gift, you'll kill all of the school's people when your day comes, I'm sure you'll come to hate them..."-

-"Thanks, master..."- Blake answered, and Blaze gave him a backpack which had a single notebook, a book and a pen inside.

-"Now, go"- Blaze said, and Blake left. All those years of extreme fighting against wild animals made him really strong and fast, and he was able to run quickly. He got to school in 20 minutes (where a normal person would've taken an hour). Blake checked the watch Blaze gave him. It marked 6:50 AM*

-"Good. 10 minutes left..."- Blake sighed and saw before him the large building, at the current time, empty, as most of people came by bus some minutes before 7:00, so, there wasn't much people around. He checked a paper Blaze had given him:

"Classroom 10-D"

Blake also checked what he was going to do by the day

7:00 to 8.00 AM History
8:00 to 9:00 AM Biology
9:00 to 9:40 AM Lunch Break
9:40 to 10:20 AM Biology
10:20 to 11:20 AM Math
11:20 to 12.20 AM Physics
12.20 to 1:20 PM English

-"This is not going to be a good day... it was easier just to kill some animal every day than sitting the whole day hearing nonsense..."- Blake growled angrily at his realization, he found his classroom and sought a seat in the last row. He didn't go for a corner to avoid being obvious, so he sat and opened his backpack. He took out a book called "The art of War" He saw a note which said "While you aren't doing anything, you better read about how to destroy people, understood?" Blake nodded, despite Blaze wasn't there.

Minutes later, he heard footsteps and with the corner of his eye he watched two people enter the classroom. According to what Blaze ad told him, those two were females, called "girls" as a generic term. He was seemingly not paying attention to anything but heard them talking

-"Who's that guy over there**?"- Said the short blonde one, low enough that she SHOULDN'T be heard. Blake's senses were above average, so he could hear clearly

-"I don't know... I had never seen him"- Said the other girl, who was average geight if not tall. She had brown wavy hair worn as a ponytail.

-"Weird..."- The blonde said looking at him, Blake seemed to be focused on his book so the girls weren't too worried

-"Why? He's just reading..."- The brown haired one replied

-"Doesn't look like an intellectual guy to me..."-

-"Maybe he does so because he know nobody?"-

-"Maybe... but I have a bad feeling about him. We better stay away..."- The blonde one said, though the brown haired one stared at him a bit longer, until they heard more foot steps and the rest of students came in.

Blake watched them, and noticed that they didn't pay attention to him 'Good. I'll keep getting here early so I don't draw attention...' However, that was going to change, as the principal came in. He greeted the students and introduced himself. He also introduced briefly all of the teachers. After that, he left and the History teacher was the only one to stay. He introduced himself as Mr. Pauls.

He was an average height man (170 - 180 cm) with dark brown hair, thick rimmed glasses whose age couldn't be told by sight, he looked young but his way to speak reflected far more experience, despite his serious look, he told the students they'd start calm and for the first week they wouldn't be doing much. He wanted to get to know the students as he did with each generation, and he asked them to introduce themselves as he took attendance

'Dammit' Blake thought, and disliked the teacher for that. As he called out the names, said student would introduce themselves, most of them with moderate confidence, as they knew almost everyone from back in the elementary. It came the turn to the blonde one

-"Karina?"- (The teacher also called them by their names, not their surnames, to make it a bit less formal)

-"Present"- She answered, and stood up

-"May you introduce yourself to the others?"- He asked with a warm tone, she smiled and a bit nervous, replied

-"My name is Karina. I come from the Elementary School #42***"-

-"And what's your age?****"-

-"12 years old"-

-"Alright, please take your seat"- He said. He noticed a boy who was in the last rows reading some book. He raised an eyebrow, finding that behavior unusual for a first day. Usually, everyone was nervous and anxious, and somewhat willing to make new friends since they were new to school and stuff. Mr Pauls knew that well, because that's how it was for lots of generations of students. He made a mental note to pay more attention to that boy. He continued calling names and making everyone introduce themselves, he was now expecting to talk to him.

After some calls, it was the bron haired's turn

-"Joana..."-

-"Present"- She answered rather happily

-"Is it correctly written? Many times the school's scecretaries screw up names"- Everyone in the classroom laughed, except the boy reading the book.

-"Yes sir"-

-"So... where do you come from?"-

-"Well, from Elementary #42 as the rest of us"-

-"Alright. Your age?"-

-"13 years old sir"- It wasn't uncommon that some students were slightly older than the rest, but it was strange that this girl would've lost a year, she had clean records, and good notes. Still, it was a minor problem compared to th boy who was seemingly not caring about the first day of high school...

-"Good. Take your seat please"- Mr Pauls kept calling names expecting to find what was the boy called, and almost coming to the last one, he called

-"Blake?"- Everyone went silent. Nobody they knew had such a name, which meant...

*By the way, yeah, school here is from 7.00 AM to 1 or 2:00 PM. I'm not sure if it's the same for the US or other countries. The schedule shown here is based on a real one
** Since it's 7th grade, and starting high school, there's not much new guy concept, however, since most of them studied together in elementary, they can tell that someone isn't from there...
*** I never figured where in the US would Blake live, so I better leave this as a mystery. Also, here, most of public schools are in fact named by a number
**** Another teachers' custom here, they ask everyone's age, even girls'. Don't ask me why, don't know...

You have the following choices:

1. Blake's turn to "introduce" himself...

*Noteb*
2. Reader's Choice...

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
