Quite a surprise awaited Claire once she got back into the diner's main room. A young man in a wet jacket took one look at and pulled a pistol on her! Claire instinctively placed her hands into the air.
"Don't shoot." Claire screamed.
"Get down!" The young man responded. Claire didn't know why he said that, but she followed the man's sight and ducked to her right. A bullet whizzed past her head and blew a hole into something. Claire turned around and gasped at the sight of a man with a very large hole in his head. On closer inspection she did see that he appeared almost...rotten in appearance. With red marks of blood ,some parts of his scalp missing, and a few teeth knocked out of his head.
"What?" She questioned. The young man bolted right over to her and grabbed a hold of Claire's arm.
"Come on!" He screamed. Off to the side of her, Claire hear hands smack against the diner's glass. She turned to the side to see more slackjawed citizens who shared similarities to the man who was ventilated behind her.
"What are these things?" Claire cried out.
"I don't know. But we're safer at the police station." The stranger answered. The two ran opposite to the way Claire entered, though now both were out in the open. Now whether it was the sound of their footsteps or the sound of the stranger's gunfire, who could've had said. But to get to the gist of the matter, a horde of the rotten came shambling out of overturned cars or broken windows. The stranger and Claire looked around until the man pointed at a police cruiser.
"There!" He shouted. The two ran towards it,both dodged hands that could've held them tight. Both tugged at the handles and hoped they opened. Luck smiled down onto them and the two rushed inside. Fate also seemed to give the two a helping hand as the key to the ignition was still in its slot. The man floored it to the max. He drove off, Claire looked behind her to see the slowly shrinking forms of the dead mass.
The two breathed a sigh of relief as the sped through the city streets.
"I'm Leon." The man spoke. "Leon.S.Kennedy."
"Claire Redfield." Claire responded. " Nice to meet you."
Leon smiled back at her. "Could you check in the glove department?"
Claire stared at Leon for a bit but complied, there a glock greeted her. She grabbed a hold of it to stare at its design. She also made sure that no bullets were chambered.
"Take it, you may wan-" Leon began to speak but was interrupted by Claire.
"Use it? Because if you're saying I shouldn't." She joked. "So who are you anyways?
"Currently a bum,was going to be a rookie today. At the police station." Leon absentmindedly spoke as he kept his eyes on the road. Claire was about to say something else but was stopped by the sound of a blaring horn behind her. She turned around and gasped at the sight of a truck crashing through the road. Leon saw the sight as well and cursed,he tried to maneuver out the way of wrecked cars while seeing the ever barring sight of the truck.
"Crazy son of a bitch." Leon spoke. He stopped and Claire grunted in surprise. She was about to ask why they stopped until she saw the sight of a overturned gas-carrier.
"Get out!" Leon cried. He helped unbuckle Claire's seat-belt before he did his own. The two rolled out of the car and just in time for the truck to ram straight into the cruiser and in turn ignite the gas-tank. The explosion knocked the two away, though thankfully both were relatively unharmed. A small bruise and scrap were on Claire but she tanked it.
"Leon!" She cried.
"Here!" Leon answered. The two walked forward, doing their best not to touch the spreading inferno.
"The police station is just down the road." He spoke. He pointed to his right. "Its behind that building all the way at the end of the street. You're closer to it, so just follow the directions and you'll get there in ten or so minutes."
"What about you?" Claire questioned.
Leon turned and pointed to the alley right behind him. "I'll see where this will take me. I'll be fine!"
Claire had many questions she wanted to ask but the sound of an agitated crowd of carrion eaters,as well as the heating inferno put a pause onto those thoughts. Claire turned her head around to see where she could go. Besides the street being filled with wreckage, it seemed that horde was coming behind her and that no drooling beasts were hidden in the field of ruin. She then looked to her left side to see a weather-torn advertisement which showed the name Kendo written on it. An arrow pointed to an alleyway which still had its lights on. Claire hopefully could've banked on the chance that someone was still there,or at least, give her a safer way to get to the police station.
