Chapter #2

old building with vampire in basement.

    by: Robin
The moon was full as April found the building that wasn't as hard to find as
she thought. Why her boss would want her to go inside and film a story was beyond her.
With her cameraman in tow they entered through the thick metal door and wandered their
way through the house. "What do you suppose the boss had in mind when he sent us here. The building
would fall down if it weren't made of brick," April said. He shrugged his shoulders and nodded his head. "You got me. I'm just your tag-along." Then they both heard it. "What was that?" April asked.
"I don't know, sounded like it came from the basement." They found the basement door through the kitchen and started down the wooden stairs in bad need of repair. April hoped she wouldn't fall through them before she got
to the bottom. "This was a bad idea. We should go back before we kill ourselves
going down these stairs." "I'm with you." They were about to turn back when they heard it again. A squeak like a door opening. "What would anybody be doing down here?"
The cameraman steadied the camera on his shoulder and turned it on. "I'm
filming, just in case." "Good idea." April stepped onto the basement floor and saw crates and boxes, shelves with old paint cans, left over canning jars, and a doorway that led into another section of
basement. "Well if there is someone down here they know we're here," April said.
She motioned for him to follow as she stepped lightly, afraid of what they would
find. Her cameraman was right behind them as they stepped through the doorway and found
an open casket with two candelabra stands, one on each end of the casket.
April's heart was in her throat as she looked around. She knew the squeak they
heard was the casket, and if there was an open casket it meant there was a vampire close
by and she had no intention of meeting him.
The cameraman panned the camera around the room and found their man to the right of
the doorway. "April, he's to your right."
