Gotta Keep it Separated

Mara shuddered to think what might happen if she didn't keep her eating in check. If she wasn't careful, her nightmare just might become a reality! The sound of a snapping twig twitched the elf’s ears, and she glanced around, scanning the heavy foliage. “Grungnor?” Rising to her feet, with a bit more effort than she would care to admit, the elf tiptoed toward the direction of the sound just as more rustling could be heard. It wasn’t far now, and Mara stayed on guard, one hand already armed with enchanted fire.

Upon reaching the rustling, Mara squeaked as a substantially fat squirrel leapt from the bush and waddled toward a nearby tree. The elf let out a light sigh and aimed to return to the trading post until something glimmered from the corner of her eye. After facing the unusual shine, Mara realized it was in fact a brilliant portal flickering with purple light. With the knowledge that someone was targeting her, the elf knew better than to trust random magical doorways. Shaking her head at the obvious trap, she turned to walk away. Or at least… she would have turned around if her legs allowed it. Frozen from the bountiful waist down, Mara began to panic as her legs took on a life of their own, marching toward the gaping portal. “Oh no… Grungnor! Anybody! Help!” She flailed her flabby arms to no avail as her foot crossed the glowing threshold. Once she was fully engulfed in the light, the doorway snapped shut behind her, leaving no trace of her exit.

After an hour or so, the Dwarf finally stepped from the wilderness and entered the camp. “Lass, I couldn’t find them anywhere.” Grungnor paused, looking around for some sign of his elven counterpart. Not a peep. “Lass?” He stood dumbfounded and scratched his head. “Where’d ye go?”

Little did he know, Mara had been teleported across a great distance. When her vision returned, she found herself in the most unlikely of places...
