She followed Luis up the steps, and she watched as his mother, Maria, greeted him at the door with a kiss. "Geeze ma!" He said jokingly. "Are you going with Hannah to Brenda's?" She asked. "Yeah. I'm just going to go take a shower, and get dressed," Luis replied. "Yes, wash all that smelly sweat off of you," Her mother said with a laugh.
"C'mon in hun. It's been awhile since I've seen you over here," Maria said holding the door open for her. "Yeah I know. I've been at cheerleading practice, and then the games, and I've been watching these little kids down the street," Hannah said sitting down at the table with Maria. "You've been busy too? I Luis has. He has football practice, football games, then he helps teach those little kids, for pee-wee football," Maria got up and poured herself some coffee. "Would you like some?" She asked. Hannah shook her head. "That's why I wanted just me and Luis to have some time together. I know that sounds kinda weird, but this past year, we haven't really had any time where we can just talk, talk like we used to," Hannah added. Maria nodded, totally agreeing. She could remember when Hannah and Luis were together all of the time, and she would joke and say they were joined at the hip.
"What do you cheerlead for?" Maria asked. "The football team," Hannah replied. "Oh that's right! Old age is really sneaking up on me," Maria said taking a sip of her coffee. "Yeah, we don't really even get to see each other during the games. During the half time, he's in the locker room, and maybe during the beginning, or at the end to we really get a chance to talk," Hannah said, running her hands through her hair.
