Matthew grinned as he opened his box of stolen treasures. The new items in his collection were amazing. A golden bow he took from a lone archer in the woods. A impressive looking dagger from a merchant he had "visited" a few days ago. And there was his newest item. A strange wand he stole from the nearby church. It was listed as forbidden. Of course that just made Matthew have to have it.
The long slender stick was carved with figures and words that Matthew didn't understand. He doubted he could use it. It would be up to a sage or a priest/valkyrie to get this thing going.
But that didn't mean the staff wasn't valuable, and Matthew would most definitely make a pretty hefty amount selling it, perhaps even to someone in the party. Matthew bet a lot of people would want this rare item. Of course he would not say it was stolen - instead that it was a gift from the church for being loyal and kind [nobody would really buy that but at least no one would decline either].
But then again, why let such an item go into the hands of another? Who knew what this miracle item could do for Matthew? Maybe it'll improve his speed, strengthen his low health or even provide him with a skill he'd never thought existed. But in order to do that of course he would have to find a cleric or a mage and let them activate the staff on him.
What do to? Matthew picked up at the staff from the stash and looked at it more closely. It felt to fine and light, he was almost jealous that he couldn't use it.
