"Sarah...You were the last person I ever expected to fight, you know." David stood in the center of the Arena, waiting as she walked up. His sword arm was encased from shoulder to wrist in heavy armor, but the rest of him was lightly armored. Sarah had never seen him in wolf form, but she suspected the armor was specially made to protect him in a transformed state.
"David," she said, nodding. Her voice was flat, but carried no malice with it.
While the Arena master spoke loudly about the start of the fight, Talis leaned close and whispered, "Some greeting! But I promise not to hurt you any more than necessary."
"And I you," she replied, then added, "you pompus ass." She grinned, and winked at him to ease the startled expression on his face. They were still smiling as the red cloth dropped, signaling the beginnings of battle.
