Mark and Carrie continue the weekly sessions with the marriage counselor as well as living each other's lives. Mark quickly learns that spending all day alone cleaning the house starts driving her crazy. She goes to the hair and nail salon at Carrie suggestion and finds it is relaxing getting away from the house and interacting with other people. Mark starts understanding it has less to do with vanity and more to do with sanity. Carrie starts to understand why Mark seems so distant when he comes home from work. It's just the opposite of what she had dealt with. At work he is never left alone. All day Carrie deals with clients, bosses, and co-workers. It's a mix of angry, hostile, happy, and apathetic people. Carrie also finds herself having to tactfully fend off the advances of one of Mark's female bosses. He had warned Carrie about her. "Fend her off, but do it in a way that you don't get fired", he said. When this first began Carrie told herself she would show Mark. She would come home after work and begin to help out with the housework and talk to him, well her. That fell flat the first day when Carrie came home exhausted and immediately passed out. The following days were not much better. Carrie found himself still feeling on edge and rather fighting with Mark just decided to distance himself. At the first counseling session after the swap he realized he was acting just as Mark had been. Carrie's female ego still is having a hard time admitting Mark's behavior may be understandable. Even as a man Carrie is still hardheaded. Mark on the other hand has more sympathy for Carrie and her daily life. Mark also discovers soon that big breasts are a pain, literally a pain.
