"I loved those California girls..." Joey answered in a sing-song tone. While Courtney shook her head in dismay, used to his tuneless rendition, of the Beach Boys' song.
Leaning into his faux-macho appeal, he flexed his muscles. A puny display, given his T-shirt barely hid any muscles.
"You should remember, it's a body-shift vacation. You won't be in those bodies." The sales woman reminds them both.
Getting things back on track, "We'll keep your real bodies here, safe and sound, and provide the bodies for your holiday."
Courtney nodded along, as Joey brought his sense of humour under control.
"I wanna be fit..." Joey said with a flash of energy.
A look from Courtney telling him firmly it was time for the jokes to end.
"You will both end up in fit, healthy, young and vibrant bodies for the entire trip." The saleswoman agreed.
"But, the company reserves the right to choose your body."
"Huh!?!" Joey answered, his face showing the same confusion.
"As a heavily discounted trip." Courtney explained, "We have to do some light advertising for the company."
The saleswoman nodded along, backing up Courtney. "You will be fit and attractive." She assured Joey.
"We wouldn't want unattractive people in our adverts, would we?"
Courtney's hand held his, giving it a re-assuring squeeze.
"No... No..." he started uncertainly, "Of course, you wouldn't..." Turning to look into Courtney's eyes, "We're going to California."
"Excellent." The sales woman collected their signatures on the contract, and walked them to the next room.
"This is the processing suite, where we'll re-sleeve you into your hot, holiday bods...."
