Deciding the best way to get answers was to go to the top and question mom. You knew it would not be easy to get her to tell you anything she wishes to remain secret. You placed the magic book into your book bag and marched to her study. "An offering of my secret is the only way to get to the truth." you mussed, quietly, reaching mom's study. "The time has come for all cards to be on the table."
Hearing you, mom sighed. "John, you will know everything when the time is right." said mom, firmly but kindly. "Don't go bugging your sisters either, I will not tolerate it."
"So, everyone in this family knows this secret but me?" you asked, accusing. "That's not very fair."
"John, there are some secrets that simply must be kept." said mom, trying to be patient. "This is one of them but you will learn of it when I feel you are ready to hear it."
Annoyed, you shook your head. "Then you will not learn my secret until I feel you are ready." you said. "I thought we were closer than most families... pity." you paused, pulling out the magic book. "By the way, one of you left this in the living room today."
With that, you handed Hayley the book and walked out of mom's study.
