Chapter #7No, I'll talk to him. by: Runner Hayley offers to talk to you, and Mom agrees, since she knows you and Hayley are so close. However Hayley had another reason. She fears that Mom just saw your potential in magic, and didn't have your best interests in mind.
"Can we talk?" she says as soon as she spots you. You gotten your composure back, and feel like talking. "Sure, guess we should. We've kept a few things from each other..."
"I had too, Joihn. For your protection. Plus to stop you worrying. Mel also has this potential, and will so start learning this stuff. She doesn't know any of this stuff, neither does Hannah, but the will when the time comes. I know you, if you knew, would you panic about all the pranks Mel or I could do to you?"
You have to laugh. "Yeah, but I'm worried sis. How can I read something that I shouldn't be able to? It doesn't make sense."
Hayley thinks about it. "You said you rewired your brain, so you was part girl, so that the most likely reason. Rewire it back again, and you should lose the ability to read it. I suggest you do, since the book will rewire you brain, then body if you read something that you not supposed to read. Magic is useful, but it is dangerous..."
You nod, "I don't want to be a chick, Hayley." She grins. "I know, but there is more, and you're not going to like this..."
It immediately puts you on edge, and a chill runs through you as Hayley speaks. "Pseudo magic is so similar to magic, its scary. John, it hasn't affected you yet, except for a habbit of using it. That's why Mom seems normal, and you never learnt of her skills before last year. She doesn't want to become a magic junkie. Neither do I."
"So that's it? Don't depend on it?" you ask.
"Yes, but you overlooked the other thing. Pseudo magic and magic are alike, so are the books..."
It takes a few seconds for it to hit you. "Are you saying prolonged reading of my book will turn me...."
