Steven headed straight into the Gents toilets, not even bothering to greet his friends who were all gathered in the tea room having a drink of coffee or tea. As usual Steven could hear their voices through the closed door, but as he went through the two doors leading into the toilets, they were drowned out.
Steven sighed as he took his coat off and watched every movement that his reflection made in one of the three medium sized mirrors that were situated above the sinks (faucets). He never had been very self confident about his appearance, and the teasing of others throughout his life hadn't helped any. After hanging his coat up, he went back to the mirror and leaned on the sink, studying his reflection once more.
The words of the old man he had encountered earlier were being repeated in his head, explaining in full the extraordinary powers he now possessed.
He wondered, as he looked down at himself, whether or not he should make some changes to himself, to improve his looks. But then, he told himself, he would no longer be himself, if he made too many changes. Besides, he wasn't 100% sure that his friends wouldn't notice anything different.
"Hell with it!" he thought, as he looked at his arms.
After a moment's careful concentration, he felt the short sleeves of his red company sweatshirt tightening as his biceps began swelling. He stopped almost immediately, not wanting to do too much, but the changes were evident, his arm muscles were definitely bigger, and he smiled as he flexed his biceps.
"Wow! This is some freaky shit!" he exclaimed under his breath, staring at his arms in the mirror.
He then focused on his arms again and his muscles returned to their normal size, much to his amazement. He now knew his powers worked perfectly, but the question he was now asking himself was...was he now willing to start using them on other people rather than himself? Especially on his friends and colleagues?
A broad, almost wicked smile appeared on his face, as he realized he could now do all the things he had ever fantasized about doing. Yet he knew...he had to practise with his powers a little first. He didn't want to go too far too quickly.
