You take out some notebook paper and turn the silver pen in your hand. The foot court probably isn't the best study environment, but maybe it will at least provide some inspiration for the assignment. Countless ideas fill your mind, and you immediately start writing your story. You decide on an urban fantasy story - a setting where magic and monsterfolk are commonplace. Your get so enthralled in the opening paragraph, detailing the setting - all the magical, humanoid races - that you don't even notice new people start to walk about the mall. There's centaurs, vampires, fairies, and a woman made entirely of a translucent, blue, slime-like material. You don't even look up from the paper as these new people start quietly going about their shopping. You're even too focused on letting the creative juices flow remember the pen's magical effect that prevents it from writing falsehoods.
You pause a moment after the introduction. A magical setting is nice, but you can't have a story without any specific characters. You tab the pen to your chin for a moment in thought. Two options for a main character enter your mind:
Ellie - A thinly-veiled self-insert. No one will notice if the main character is just a self-insert for a power fantasy if you just make it a busty swordmaiden version of yourself, right?
A sexy, potion-brewing witch. You're not sure on a name, yet. That's always the trickiest part. But hey, it's a solid idea for a magical and mysterious main character.
