Hearing your excuse, mom paled then turned red with annoyance. "Your uncle John gave you that?" she asked.
You nodded and she placed a light hand onto your head, staring deep into your eyes. A moment later, she scowled and walked away from you and picked up the telephone, turning to Julie. "If either of them moves, reduce them to three year olds." she said, angrily. "I need to make a call."
Mom's words chilled you to the bone as you looked up to a stern Julie, who said nothing but watched you and your 'twin' like a hawk. Then, mom began to speak, rather scream, into the phone.
"How dare you give my son your science, John!" she screamed, clearly angry. "I told you on his twelfth birthday that I would not have him go through the same nightmare you did, earning the right to keep that pseudo magic!" she paused, taking a few labored breaths. "When did you give him the lab and the book!?... WHAT!!??!!..."
"Mommy's angry." said Sarah, cringing, still looking like you.
"You think!?" asked Julie. "It took uncle John three years or torturous tests and trials to earn his right to keep his powers and be accepted as a pseudo witch." she looked at you, her face softening a little. "This was not your fault, Mat but I seriously do not think mom will let you keep your science."
You moaned, wishing that you had said something else...
"I want you over in five, John, do you understand me!?!" she raged. "You will come and get that accursed lab and book out of my house!!"
She then slammed the receiver down and turned to Julie. "Please restore Sarah and take her to her room." she said, far more calmly. "I need to have a talk with Mat."
Julie nodded and magically restored Sarah to her original form before escorting her out of the room. you watched them leave, then turned back to mom, frightened. "Am I in trouble?" you asked.
Mom sighed. "No, honey." she said. "I don't blame you for this but you are going to be having a few very rough days."
You swallowed hard, wondering what mom meant by that.
